Audrey Kishline

Drinking Group Founder Pleads Guilty

The founder of a national organization that promotes moderate drinking for problem drinkers pleaded guilty in Ellensburg, Washington, to driving drunk and causing a wreck that killed two people. Audrey Kishline, 43, wept as she pleaded guilty to two counts of vehicular homicide in the deaths of Richard Davis and his 12-year-old daughter, LaShell. Kishline, whose blood-alcohol level was more than three times the legal limit, could get up to life in prison at sentencing Aug. 11. Kishline in 1993 started Moderation Management as an alternative to Alcoholics Anonymous. The group considers drinking learned and not a disease. Kishline has disavowed the movement and has joined AA, her lawyer said.
