I agree with CAL’s stance against HB88 The healthy Youth Act. I am also a parent of two children (one in grade school) living in NC. Who wold I have to contact to get them to vote no?

Having 2 children still in NC Public Schools, I was unaware of the new bill being considered. Thankyou for clearly defining the issues facing our children in our schools. I completely agree with CAL and will spread the word to fight this legislation! This is just another example of children will rise to the standards we set. High standards/expectations=high rewards. Low standards/expectations=the mess we are in as a society today!

This bill must be defeated. (1) Sponsors of this bill have said that any school district not in compliance with the proposed law would lose state education funds. (Isn’t this extortion?) (2) The curriculum would be set by so-called sex education “experts”. These “experts,” and not parents, will be deciding what material will be presented in these classes. Parent input is not asked for nor is it wanted. (3) Any student not returning a consent form signed by a parent will be enrolled in the more radical “comprehensive” sex education track. As a result, it will be child, and not the parent, who is the decision-maker as to which class he/she will take.
