Major Pro-Life Event Coming to Raleigh in January
Christian Action League encourages its supporters not to miss this rally for life

December 13, 2007

RALEIGH — Organizers of the Ninth Annual Prayer Breakfast for Life and the Rally and March for Life — all set for Jan. 12 — hope their events will inform, inspire and empower supporters while making a clear declaration to America.

"We want to send a strong message that North Carolina is a pro-life state," said Barbara Holt, president of North Carolina Right to Life. "This is the 35th anniversary of Roe v. Wade and if we are going to change the culture, we need to stand up for life and be a voice."

"This is a real family day event, with people of all ages, from seniors to babies in strollers," Holt said. "We encourage groups to come out and bring their banners for the march."

Rev. Mark Creech, executive director of the Christian Action League said: "The sanctity of human life is the focal issue of our time. Justice is the God-given right of every person to life, liberty, and their property. If life isn't protected, there will be no justice — no guaranteed protection of one's liberty or property either. North Carolina's Right to Life event in January is one of the most important events in our state. Would to God every dedicated Christian makes it a priority to be there." Read More

In the wake of the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) challenge of Gideon Bible distribution in Harnett and Cumberland Counties, the North Carolina Christian Action League (CAL) Executive Director, Rev. Mark Creech met with DUMA (Dunn United Ministerial Association) to discuss the situation, Monday, December 10th.

The meeting at Betsy Johnson hospital in Dunn was comprised of 15 ministers of various denominations from the Dunn area. Creech established that action by these ministers was of the essence, but the right kind of action was predominantly essential.

Creech quoted over a dozen sources ranging from scholars, documents, court cases, and the Bible in his presentation. Each source addressed ways to undo the ACLU's efforts to undermine religious expression by treating it is as second-class form of speech.

Hollis Fedrick, DUMA president and Coats Church of God pastor, said, "We're very appreciative of Rev. Creech coming here today." Fred Baker, Convention of Original Freewill Baptists, and Gene Love, Beacon Rescue Mission, both commended Creech's presentation. Read More

Movie Has Many Churches Buzzing
Burlington Times News
December 13, 2007

A movie called "The Golden Compass" has some in the church community concerned that parents aren't aware of what's behind a fantasy story that will likely appeal to young people.

The movie was released this weekend. It's based on the first of a series of three books by Philip Pullman, who has described himself as an atheist and an agnostic.

Some say they're concerned that parents who don't know the background behind the movie will let their children see it without knowing what his books include.

Mark Creech, executive director of the Christian Action League of North Carolina, said his main concern is that the movie is "a gateway, if you will, to the books." Read More

Sex-Ed Debated in the Raleigh News and Observer
Christian Action League of North Carolina, Inc.
December 13, 2007

Recently, Janet Colm, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood of Central North Carolina wrote an editorial published by the Raleigh News and Observer, which contended that "the federal government has wasted more than $1 billion" on abstinence-only based sex education. Citing that fourteen governors in the nation have rejected federal abstinence-only funding, Colm advocates that Governor Mike Easley should do the same. Colm believes that the abstinence-until-marriage approach to sex education is a monumental failure. But are her assertions correct? Should North Carolina supplant abstinence-only curriculum with comprehensive sex education?

In another op-ed piece written by Traci Griggs, a former abstinence educator and currently serving on the board of LifeCare Pregnancy Center in Raleigh, Griggs compares comprehensive sex-education curriculums with abstinence-until marriage and marvelously defends the superiority of the latter. Read Rev. Mark Creech's Editorial: What to do with Santa Claus

Santa Claus, along with prominent Christian leaders, has strongly denounced the subversive movie "The Golden Compass" as an evil attempt to lure children into Phillip Pullman's "Dark Trilogy" — a series of books which the author himself claims as its goal the "Killing of God."

The movie has created controversy among both Christian and non-Christian religious leaders.

Santa has posted a video response to the movie at www.here, condemning both the movie and the books on which it is based, calling for a boycott of New Line Cinema and the movie's sponsors, including Random House, Yahoo, Sega, Inkworks and MySpace.com.

"Anyone with the goal of tearing children away from God and who says that he wants to see God dead in our hearts does not deserve your financial support," said Santa. Continue reading, what to do with Santa Claus
